The “Divine Nine” refers to the nine historically Black Greek-letter organizations that make up the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC). Founded during an era of intense racial segregation when Black students were excluded from mainstream Greek life, these fraternities and sororities were established to foster academic excellence, lifelong bonds, and social justice activism.
Historic and contemporary members of the Divine Nine include Duke Ellington, Margaret Bonds, Carlos Simon, William Grant Still, Helen Hagan, and Count Basie, amongst many others. Considering tickets to more than one concert? Choose 3 concerts and you will save 20% on tickets.
